11 Years

Notice the fingers? LOL

Dear Readers,

Today I have been alcohol free for 11 years. Crazy to think of that! I turned 72, and I have nothing to complain about, other than some older body parts slowly falling apart! Mr. Untipsy and I celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary, which is also crazy! We are still walking, hiking, and getting to gym. We take little adventures to state parks, and hope to take one more big adventure soon!

I have chosen, on purpose, not to bring in politics here, because that would be a different blog. I want all people of all sides of issues, who are struggling with drinking too much to get support. Lately I read of people who break their sobriety because of something that happened in our country. Drinking over a political issue will never solve the problem, and will only make a worse problem for us personally.

Today I keep myself going along this path with the support of Mr. Untipsy, and many friends I have made along the way, as well as my family. I keep in the back of my mind, how drinking made my life so complicated and messy. I keep in the front of my mind the freedom I have. Most of the time I don’t think about alcohol anymore, but never do I get complacent.

If you are beginning your journey, know you are not alone, and that you are stronger than you know. It took a lot of determination and perseverance, along with other people’s support for me.

Love to all of you trying to live a better life without alcohol.

With Peace,

On 11 Years, Day 4017,

Wendy

  1. Congratulations, Wendy! Your email today gave me a boost as I deal with some health issues. I admire the way you consistently look for the light and find moments of joy as you face challenges. Your nature photos and the smiling faces of you and Mr. UT remind me that life is for living, even when things get hard! And I agree with you that sobriety doesn’t solve all of life’s problems, but it sure makes life a lot less messy and complicated. Thanks for sharing your beautiful spirit for these 11 years!
