Arizona Desert Beauty

Sunset over Camelback Mountain

Dear Readers,

Please forgive my absence from commenting on blogs. Mr. UT and I have been in Arizona this week! We went from snow in Minneapolis, to warm and sunny in the Phoenix area.

We are blessed that we can travel. Many people would love to, but aren’t able to due money or lack of resources to do so. We both like to travel. Some people do and some people don’t. For me, it is always a growing experience, and the memories stay with me! (Not sure Mr. UT likes the growing part, lol, but he does love the memories we make, and the history we build.)

Traveling is always a learning experience for me. Patience is important when traveling. (Especially when with your spouse! Ha!) Mapping skills are required even if you have Google Maps! Knowing how to use your rental car is imperative, even when spouse is driving. I couldn’t drive the one we have now, something I need to be sure to learn next time in case of an emergency. Flexibility is a wonderful asset to possess when traveling.

We always debate whether we should try new places all the time, or go back to places we love. We try to pick a combination of both. New places seem more exciting, but familiar ones can be if you try doing different activities. This is an area we have been to before several years ago, but this time we tried different hiking places, golf courses, and restaurants! We are taking a sunset hot air balloon ride! That makes it seem new to us as well.

However, I do love exploring new places and there are so many beautiful areas to discover! We are trying to do active trips as we are both able to hike and golf. I never want to shop on trips! There is too much to see outside to spend time in a mall or stores, most of which I can find at home.

Sometimes I shake my head thinking back on my early days, when I thought I could never have fun on vacations without drinking. I actually have more fun now. Like chasing sunsets! I made Mr. UT get in the car and drive around the city to find best place to take a sunset photo! We found a brilliant place, and the sunset was worth it!

With Cacti all Around,

And No Snow,

On Day 1994,

Wendy

  1. I often think that myself – how much more fun traveling is now that I’m not drinking and actually present for the experience. I’m so glad you’re both having so much fun, and thank you as always for sharing your pictures – they’re stunning!

  3. Wow, wow, wow! I want to go!! Looks amazing and your post really cheered me up. I need to do more travelling. You’ve inspired me! Even if it’s just a day out exploring so where near! Too much being housebound is no good. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Looks fantastic xxx

      1. I think that’s the important thing about this and also your posts … it can be hard to feel motivated to get out and just do something, but it’s often so much better when we do. 😊 xx

  4. Wonderful…this encourages me to travel. Like Clairei47 said, it’s often hard to feel motivated. I struggle with it all the time. I’m getting betterm slowly.
